@ianmilligan1 Liked your talk, especially I agree, that historians aren’t prepared for the future of their discipline.

via Tweetbot for iOS in reply to nilsreiter

via Tweetbot for iOS

via Tweetbot for iOS in reply to mdemanto

DrThomasErnst DH’s memory building: It seems already time for DH to write its own history and to built up its future on these fundaments.

via Tweetbot for iOS in reply to MschFr

via Tweetbot for iOS in reply to mdemanto

Abstract Bredekamp: War alles schon da. Ist alles vergessen.

via Tweetbot for iOS

Very interesting to hear the critical history of Digital Humanities from Bredekamp. It will offer many points of discussion.

via Tweetbot for iOS

Kritischer Kommentar von Bredekamp: Digital Humanities sind dem „Kult des Präsentismus” ausgesetzt. Vergangenes wird vergessen.

@melissaterras data protection is important though. Is that possible with an API? I mustn’t transfer those data sets. :)

via Tweetbot for iOS in reply to melissaterras

@MaxJ_K @Ajprescott Counter question: Do you need any explanations, when you know and describe perfectly how it is?

via Tweetbot for iOS in reply to MaxJ_K

@mia_out @MschFr @melissaterras I’m very interested! Any news about it?

via Tweetbot for iOS in reply to mia_out

@MaxJ_K @Ajprescott @Viktor_MS I think correlations are problematic, when you try to predict. But I see how more data makes it still better.

via Tweetbot for iOS in reply to MaxJ_K

+1 “@MschFr: The problem for historians: Most sources are not machine readable. There is no software to OCR an old handwriting

via Tweetbot for iOS

@Viktor_MS Isn’t it sad, that I’m surprised by a speaker on a digital humanities conference using Twitter? Thank you for this nice surprise!

@Ajprescott Thank you! It’s important to know what correlations can do and what they can’t, even on big data level.

via Tweetbot for iOS in reply to Ajprescott

Ajprescott @Sascha_Foerster I discussed this risk in a blog entry earlier this year, ‘The Deceptions of Data’: bit.ly/IRaM7P

via TweetDeck (retweeted on 3:39 PM, Dec 5th, 2013 via Tweetbot for iOS)

I see a risk in big data, if we mistakenly think of causations where there only are correlations. There is a big difference.
